Happy International Women’s Day

Inspiration To Us All!

As I think about what International Women’s Day means to me the first thing that comes to mind is watching the recent 2018 Olympics and the inspiring stories that were told of the athletes especially the Women’s Hockey Team and one on my favorite skiers Lindsey Vonn. 

In both of these circumstances there have been major set backs in the lives of these women. Some of them had to overcome injuries, or coming up short getting silver instead of gold, but the one underlying constant with each and every one of these athletes is their commitment to their dream and the fierce determination to not let anything stand in their way.

This is true in everything you do from running your business to your personal life and these women are great examples of following your heart and never letting go of your dreams. One of my favorite quotes of all times is by Walt Disney who said “If you can dream it YOU CAN DO IT“. The question is how big can you dream? Don’t ever let anyone try and discourage you from reaching for the GOLD, if these women can do it you can too!

So, let’s keep striving to do our best and never stop reaching for your dreams.

It Never Rains In California

When It Rains, It Pours…….

Today was one of those few days in Southern California that take your breath away in more ways than one.

In property management we watch the weather closely to make sure we are ready for whatever Mother Nature has in store and when we have weather coming, be it rain, winds or a heat wave each present a multitude of potential problems that arise. These are the days you know when you go to work that the phone will be ringing off the hook and our tenants will need our help in correcting problems that arise due to weather. During the year we have an active preventive management program in preparation for the seasons ahead but unfortunately these type of calls are inevitable.

So let me try and help out and provide a couple tips that might make dealing with these inconveniences a littler easier. When you first notice a leak; say a wet ceiling tile note where it is located with in the suite. This will be one of the first questions management will ask so we can let our roofers know where to begin, Understand we cannot fix any of the leaks while it is raining, we need the roofs to dry out and then we can get a good seal around the affected area. If the tile is bulging and looks like it will fall, take a sharp pencil and slowly poke a hole in the tile and with a bucket below let the water drain from the tile. This will prevent it from collapsing onto someone’s desk and/or computer and in all cases if you can remove everything under the affected area this will prevent further damage. If carpets get wet let us know as soon as possible so we can get the water extracted and fans started. Windows again will require the rain to stop and the seals to dry out before we can reseal.

We know how frustrating leaks can be and we appreciate your working with us. So batten down the hatches and get ready for the next round of storms coming are way. Remember to slow down and keep your distance when driving and lets all get to our designated destination safely.
